So what is corten steel?

Corten steel is processed at the mill to have a particular molecular structure forming a shield on the surface, preventing rust from eating into the metal. As long as water runs off the surfaces, the art work will develop a final rusted surface and not change further. Made initially as a construction material for industrial projects and building surfaces, such as the Daley Center in Chicago, its use has become inspirational to many artists.

In Frazier's work, the choice of corten steel makes outside installations possible, and lends strength to her themes.

Arterial: in corten steel, 8 feet by 4 feet by 2 feet.
